One person sent to hospital after collision with firetruck

A woman was critically injured when a Clark County fire engine collided with the vehicle she was driving at the intersection of Karen Avenue and Lamb Boulevard, near Sahara Avenue, about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters rescued Adriana Cano, 48, who was trapped inside the 2001 Ford F150 pickup. She was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with serious injuries, Las Vegas police said.

Cano turned left from the stop sign on westbound Karen Avenue to southbound Lamb. The fire engine was traveling north on Lamb and appeared to have the right of way as there was no traffic control device requiring it to stop at the intersection, police said.

A 36-year-old man, who was driving the fire engine, was not traveling with flashing lights and siren activated. The man's name is pending release by the Clark County Fire Department.

An investigation by the police Accident Investigation Section is ongoing.
