California-based WorldBed donated 200 mattresses to The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada’s Lied Social Services Campus as part of WorldBed’s efforts to provide 2,000 beds to Las Vegas Valley nonprofit groups.
More than five years of planning and construction went into The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, 361 Symphony Park Ave., a project many city officials, residents and president/CEO Myron Martin believed would be a catalyst in the revitalization of downtown.
Downtown Las Vegas has long been known for its appeal to tourists, notably with nightly light shows and live concerts along the Fremont Street Experience. Beyond the historic street’s neon lights, however, are venues and nighttime activities often lesser-known to tourists and frequented by locals.
Teens and children younger than 18 and their parents need to be aware that there are curfew laws in the valley, but they aren’t enforced haphazardly, valley police officials said.

The International Black Aerospace Council hosted an aviation industry conference at the Las Vegas Hotel recently for about 40 youths. The group’s goal was to generate interest among black students in aerospace careers.
