I wanted your opinion on the word “victim.” I feel like the word “victim” has become a negative term in our society because people confuse being a victim with having victim mentality. Given the definition of victim (someone who is harmed, injured, killed), there should be no shame in being called a victim or in calling yourself a victim. It is simply a fact (e.g., I am a hurricane victim). Given that, being a victim has little to do with how one responds to being a victim.
