Dr. Quannah McCall was regarded as a “distinguished pioneer in Nevada” thanks to his dentistry practice. He began his practice in Pioche, Nev., where his father also was a dentist. In 1936, the governor selected Quannah as the Nevada State Dentist for his efforts touring Nevada schools in a dental truck and house trailer offering kids dental care. In tow was his young daughter, Connie.

Hospice volunteers usually expect to lose patients within six months. Betsy Burnett, a veteran volunteer, was used to this. Her current patient, Elizabeth “Betty” Twohey, who is 104, did not follow the trend. She has been in hospice care for five years.
