Pedestrian critical after being struck by vehicle Monday night

A 64-year-old man was in critical condition Monday night following an auto-pedestrian accident near downtown Las Vegas.

Police responded at 9:56 p.m. to East Bonneville Avenue and South 6th Street, where a man was struck by a 2002 Lincoln Town Car.

Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate Anthony Rotondo was crossing Bonneville in an unknown direction. He was near the east curb of 6th street as the Lincoln was travelling northbound in the left lane of Bonneville, a one-way street.

The driver of the Lincoln applied the brakes but was unable to avoid a collision with the Rotondo, who rolled onto the hood of the car and was thrown forward onto the road.

Rotondo was transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

The 60-year-old male driver of the Lincoln and the 53-year-old female passenger were not injured.
