Pedestrian struck, killed on Warm Springs Road

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday night while trying to cross West Warm Springs Road near South Hinson Street, a stretch of desert area where there are no street lights, Las Vegas police said.

The man, estimated to be in his 40s, died at the scene after the accident was reported at 6:17 p.m., according to police.

"It looks like pedestrian error. He stopped out in front of traffic while crossing the middle of the street," said Lt. John Liberty, a watch commander.

Liberty said the man was wearing dark clothing, and the driver of an SUV that struck him never saw him.

"The driver was not at fault," Liberty said.

Police also were investigating a two-car collision in northwest Las Vegas, where one driver apparently failed to yield and crashed into another in the vicinity of Sun City Boulevard and Billy Casper Drive.

Five people, believed to be elderly, were taken to local hospitals, Liberty said. The condition of the victims was not known late Saturday.

"It looked to be like a T-bone accident," Liberty said.
