Homicide detectives are investigating a person found dead east of downtown after reports of gunfire Thursday night, Las Vegas police said.
Lt. Les Lane said police were alerted to the body on the street or sidewalk in the 2800 block of Stewart Avenue, near Eastern Avenue, at 8:05 p.m.
Lane said witnesses reported hearing gunshots, but it's unclear whether the victim, whose gender was not immediately available, had been shot.
