Pit bull attacks city animal control officer

A Las Vegas animal control officer was treated at the hospital Wednesday after being bitten by a pit bull.

A city spokesman said the attack happened at about 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Upland Boulevard, near Jones Boulevard and U.S. Highway 95.

The officer was unable to find a dog reported to be running loose. The officer then contacted the person who reported the loose dog.

That person said the dog was the neighbor's pit bull. While the officer was in the backyard of the residence, a pit bull from the neighboring home jumped the fence and attacked the officer .

The officer was taken to University Medical Center. Three adult pit bulls and nine puppies were impounded from the neighboring home.
