Staff working to restore Clark County website

The Clark County website is down as staff work to fix a problem that occurred while performing an upgrade Wednesday night.

The site is expected to be down for several more hours, county spokesman Erik Pappa said just before noon.

Going to clarkcountynv.gov or its departments sends users to a generic site filled with ads for divorce lawyers, hotel deals and bail bondsmen.

Pappa said the problem occurred while upgrading a secured email server. During the upgrade, the wrong Internet Protocol address was entered. Normally, a different IP address is peer-reviewed and tested before going live, he said.

The outage affects other county government sites, including the courts and the county assessor. It gets about a quarter of a million visitors each month, Pappa said.
