Vegas Loves Veterans campaign launched
The Home Depot Foundation will help launch the Vegas Loves Veterans campaign today to raise money for Veterans Village, a temporary housing and service facility in Las Vegas.
The foundation's chief operating officer, Fred Wacker, plans to announce a significant grant to Veterans Village and to launch the campaign with Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Councilman Bob Coffin and Veterans Village Las Vegas founder Arnold Stalk.
The 103-day campaign from Valentine's Day to Memorial Day seeks donations of $1 per day from residents and businesses "to show support of veterans from all conflicts who have defended our freedoms over the decades," according to a news release from the foundation.
For information on how to participate, go to www.vvlv.org.
Veterans Village, at 1150 Las Vegas Blvd., was created with the foundation's help to refurbish the former 120-room Econo Lodge Motel into a facility to help veterans heal and succeed.
