1 dead, 2 missing in Pyramid Lake

RENO — One fisherman is dead and two others are missing after their boat was found capsized at Pyramid Lake in Northern Nevada, according to authorities.

Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe emergency response coordinator Don Pelt told the Reno Gazette-Journal the search began Tuesday after the three men failed to return home Monday.

Their names weren’t made public, but they were described as frequent fishermen at the lake who usually dock their boat at Pelican Point.

Pelt said a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office helicopter found the dual outboard motor boat flipped over more than a mile offshore in the Hell’s Kitchen Canyon area.

That’s in the northeastern portion of the lake, about 50 miles north of Reno.
