84-year-old moped rider dies after Boulder City crash

Boulder City police are trying to figure out if a fatal moped crash on Wednesday was an accident or a hit-and-run.

Officers found an 84-year-old man lying injured in the street in front of the Boulder City library, southwest of downtown, just after 2 p.m. The other vehicle in the crash, which witnesses said was red, had left the scene.

The man was taken to Boulder City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Wednesday night that the red vehicle may not have hit the moped and that the scooter may have swerved toward it and gone down by itself.

Henderson police helped in the investigation. Investigators do not think speed was a factor.
