Crowley leaving as Nevada Mining Association chief

CARSON CITY — Tim Crowley, president of the Nevada Mining Association for the past six years, is leaving the organization to create his own public affairs agency.

Association Chairman Duane Peck sent out an email notifying members and others of Crowley’s departure.

The exact date of Crowley’s departure is still a ways off, however.

Peck said the association has reached an agreement with Crowley to have him stay on as president through a transition while at the same time giving him the flexibility to build his new business.

“We are excited for Tim and supportive of his efforts as he goes forward with this next chapter of his professional life,” Peck said. “But more than that, we are grateful for Tim’s six years of indefatigable service and loyalty to the industry, the association and its members.”

Crowley said Wednesday he wants to help the association with its transition to a new president.

“I want to stick around until it makes sense for me to move out of the way for the next guy,” Crowley said. “That affords the board the ability to move at its own pace and be deliberate in finding a successor.”

But in the meantime Crowley is going forward with his new venture with Jessica Ferrato in forming Crowley and Ferrato Public Affairs. Crowley said the team will have mining clients, but will also have the ability to represent other interests including health care and education interests.

They will be representing clients at the Nevada Legislature.
