Interim Washoe school superintendent named

RENO — The Washoe County School Board has named Deputy Superintendent Traci Davis the interim superintendent through the middle of next year.

The board also announced Tuesday that Pedro Martinez will serve his last day as superintendent on Nov. 4 under the terms of a settlement negotiated last month to buy out his contract.

Martinez filed a wrongful-termination suit after he said he was fired in July a dispute over his resume regarding his background as a certified public accountant.

The board says a search is underway to name a permanent successor. Davis will serve in an interim role at least until mid-2015.
