Centennial and Bishop Gorman won the Class 4A state track and field championships on Saturday at Carson High School.

The Falcons (32-11) followed their first-ever Sunrise Region championship with a grueling 26-24, 23-25, 24-26, 25-21, 15-13 win over host Arbor View (29-10).
Coronado’s boys golf shot a two-day total of 23-over-par 599 as a team to win the Class 4A state golf tournament at Reflection Bay Golf Club on Tuesday. It was the Cougars’ first title since 2012, and Coronado players celebrated by jumping into Lake Las Vegas.

Jaret Godman picked up a pair of victories on Saturday, as the Panthers defeated Centennial 15-0 and 1-0 at Shadow Ridge to claim the Sunset title and earn a berth at state.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs reached one of their goals with a 28-26, 25-15, 26-24 sweep of host Arbor View to claim the Sunset Region championship. It’s Centennial’s first region title since 2010.
Both the boys and girls teams dominated for Palo Verde as they cruised to region titles.
Martin quieted Centennial’s bats over 5⅓ innings as the Mustangs advanced to the Sunset Region softball championship with a 7-5 victory.
Farries Gardner, a 6-foot-2-inch opposite hitter, had 17 kills — including three emphatic ones to end the game — and 10 digs to propel Centennial to a decisive 25-18, 25-15, 25-21 victory over defending Class 4Astate champion Palo Verde at host-site Arbor View.
Nik Dobar pitched a complete game, and Centennial took advantage of a six-run fourth inning to earn a 10-4 home win over Palo Verde.
Makall Whetten knocked a two-out, two-RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Panthers a 5-3 lead over Shadow Ridge. The Mustangs left the bases loaded in the seventh without scoring, and Palo Verde advanced to its ninth straight Sunset Region final.
