21-year-old woman injured when she is struck by airplane propeller

A 21-year-old woman has been hospitalized after being struck by an airplane propeller at McCarran Airport on Thursday afternoon.

Airport spokesman Michael Alonzo said the woman was struck by the propeller of a privately owned Beechcraft Bonanza, a single-engine plane. The incident happened in the southwest corner of the airport at 4:29 p.m. No flights were affected.

The extent of the woman's injuries and the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown, Alonzo said.

She was taken to University Medical Center.
