24-year-old sentenced in teen’s slaying
RENO -- A 24-year-old gang member has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance for parole in the fatal shooting of a Carson City teenager and attempted murder of a passer-by who tried to help the victim along U.S. Highway 395 south of Reno.
Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer sentenced Victor Rodriguez for the killing of 17-year-old Rene Angulo and shooting of the passer-by, Wayne Nash, in May.
Authorities said Rodriguez, who has a conviction of accessory to murder in Carson City, is in the country illegally and previously had been deported.
