26-year-old woman is killed in crash in northwest valley

A 26-year-old woman died in far northwest Las Vegas on Saturday when she failed to make a right turn and drove into the desert.

The woman, who wasn't identified, was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit at 6:12 a.m. north on Sky Pointe Drive, north of U.S. Highway 95 and Kyle Canyon Road.

She failed to make the right turn on Moccasin Road and continued straight, into the desert, according to Las Vegas police.

The Volkswagen hit a dirt embankment and became airborne before landing and rolling, police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
