Android everywhere

 If you're shopping for a smartphone, you may want to wait a while because the marketplace is about to get a lot more interesting and flexible. Google announced two major deals in the last two days, one with Verizon Wireless and one with AT&T, that will result on their Android platform being available for all four major U.S. mobile providers.

The Wall Street Journal today reported that a Google-Dell-AT&T deal will introduce Dell as a mobile handset provider. Dell will unveil its first-ever mobile phone using the Google Android operating system on the AT&T network as soon as early 2010, the Journal says. Read the full story here: http://bit.ly/iybo

On Tuesday, Verizon Wireless announced a Google Android partnership for its network.

A Verizon Wireless statement says: "Verizon Wireless and Google plan to co-develop several Android-based devices that will be preloaded with innovative applications from both parties as well as third-party developers. The family of Android phones on the Verizon Wireless network will come from leading handset manufacturers."
