Arizona man who injured 3 people in knife rampage sentenced

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Kingman man who injured his ex-fiancee, her new boyfriend and another woman in 2012 was sentenced to 36 years in prison Friday.

Philip Matwyuk, 29, was sentenced following trial convictions last month for attempted murder, seven assault related charges and burglary.

Prosecutor James Schoppmann said that in June 2012, Matwyuk entered his former residence without permission and engaged in a violent jealous rampage after finding his ex-girlfriend in bed with another man. He said Matwyuk grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed and cut three victims within the home.

The male victim was critically injured and spent nine days in the hospital before he was discharged.
