The Honda turned left off the highway and traveled through the highway median to a stop sign before pulling out in front of a northbound Chevrolet passenger vehicle, when the two vehicles collided, the agency said. The driver and a passenger in the Honda were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Passengers in the Honda who were killed include Aishamara Rodriguez Quiroz, 21, Lake Forest; Samantha Hartsell, 24, Santa Margita, and Fernando D. Soto, 22, hometown undisclosed.

The driver and both passengers in the Chevrolet were also transported to hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
