Authorities: Trespassers likely caused fire in vacant house

A Monday night fire at a vacant house in the northwest valley was likely caused by trespassers, authorities said Tuesday.

The fire happened about 11 p.m. at 3612 Crescent Canyon Street, near Gowan Road and Durango Drive.

Las Vegas firefighters said the fire began in a bedroom on the second floor of the home. The house was unsecured and did not have utilities connected to it.

The blaze caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.

Spokesman Tim Szymanski said homeless people were not responsible. Fire investigators will determine a cause.
