Vehicles including iconic vintage race cars, classic Detroit muscle cars and one-of-a-kind collectibles are on display at the Mandalay Bay Events Center through Saturday. The collector car event, sponsored by the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, will allow car enthusiasts to feast their eyes and take part in auction action scheduled for today and Saturday. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. An entry fee that varies for each day of the event is charged. For more information, call 474-4000.

State television on Wednesday night carried a statement by the Martyrs Foundation providing the toll and saying 2,427 of the dead in the demonstrations that began Dec. 28 were civilians and security forces. It did not elaborate on the rest.
