Baby girl dies after being left in vehicle

LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

A 2½-month-old baby girl left unattended in a vehicle for five hours died in Kingman, Ariz., on Monday.

Police Lt. Rusty Cooper said the temperature inside the vehicle was more than 100 degrees.

Cooper said the 21-year-old father forgot his daughter was in the vehicle when he arrived home about 10:30 a.m. and parked in the driveway and went into his residence in the 3200 block of Calumet.

Cooper said the man later remembered he had left his daughter, and the infant was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead at midafternoon.

Names of the parties are withheld initially and Child Protective Services has been notified.

Cooper said no one was arrested.

He said the Mohave County attorney's office will determine what charges will be filed, if any, once the police investigation is completed.
