Beverly Hills doctor appointed to MGM Mirage board of directors

MGM Mirage appointed Joseph Sugerman, a Beverly Hills, Calif.-based ear, nose and throat doctor, to its board of directors to help the company with its health care program.

He was selected at the company’s Aug. 25 directors’ meering and his appointment is subject to approval by casino regulators in the various jurisdictions the company operates.

Sugerman, who has practiced medicine for 32 years, is an attending physician at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was past clinical chief of the otolaryngologist department.

“As the largest provider of health care benefits in Nevada, our company will benefit immensely from his expertise,” MGM Mirage Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James Murren said in a statement. “Particularly as we, along with the entire nation, navigate through the challenges that we face related to health care coverage.”

Sugerman is a clinical instructor at the University of Southern California and the University of California, Los Angeles.
