Bicyclist, 8, struck, seriously injured by car

An 8-year-old boy was in serious condition after being struck by a car about 8 a.m. today on Washington Avenue near Minnesota Street.

The boy was riding east on Washington with another child when both bicyclists suddenly turned north and tried to cross the street, according to Las Vegas police.

The victim was then struck by a 2001 Lexus GS 300 sedan traveling west on Washington, police said.

The boy, who was not immediately identified, was taken to University Medical Center.
