Bicyclist injured in collision with North Las Vegas police car

A bicyclist was hospitalized after a crash involving a police car Monday afternoon, a North Las Vegas police spokeswoman said.

The crash happened about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday near North Las Vegas Boulevard and Owens Avenue.

The patrol car was traveling south on North Las Vegas Boulevard with lights and sirens on, Sgt. Chrissie Coon said. Witnesses at the scene said vehicles yielded to the patrol car as he went through the intersection, but the bicyclist, traveling east on Owens, did not.

The 22-year-old bicyclist was transported to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Coon said.

The collision is still under investigation.
