Big rig strikes, kills woman walking along U.S. 95

A 38-year-old Henderson woman was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer while walking along U.S. Highway 95 near Railroad Pass late Tuesday night.

Penny Amber Franco was walking south in the far right travel lane of U.S. 95 when a tractor-trailer pulling two trailers struck her about 9:42 p.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Franco was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where she died a short time later.

The driver of the tractor-trailer has not been charged with a crime, the Highway Patrol said.
