Blaze displaces 10 people; cause of fire unknown

Ten people were displaced when their two-story house went up in flames Monday evening.

None of the people were injured. Five were home when the fire started in a downstairs bedroom of 625 Essex East Drive, near Charleston and Decatur boulevards, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department.

The fire spread to the outside of the house and to the roof and attic at 5:52 p.m. Firefighters had the blaze under control within a few minutes.

The Red Cross is assisting the family of four adults and six children. The cause of the blaze is unknown.
