BLM proposes more wild horse roundups

CARSON CITY -- The Bureau of Land Management is proposing gathering wild horses from four western Nevada regions to inject mares with birth control and remove some horses from the range.

The agency Monday released two preliminary environmental assessments for the roundups proposed for Pilot Mountain in Churchill; Clan Alpine in Churchill County; and the Pine Nut area in Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties.

Another gather is proposed for Lyon County's Lahonton Herd Management Area .

Public comments on the plans will be accepted through Sept. 23.
