Bus driver cited after accident south of Reno

RENO -- A bus driver for the Reno area's public transit system was cited for failure to maintain a lane after an accident Friday morning south of Reno.

Washoe County sheriff's spokesman Armando Avina told the Reno Gazette-Journal that it appears the accident on Eastlake Boulevard near Little Washoe Lake State Park was caused by driver inattention.

He said six people were on the Regional Transportation Commission bus when it went off the roadway, and one passenger reported a minor injury.

The bus, which was en route from Carson City to Reno, stopped several hundred yards away and sustained undercarriage damage.

Another bus was sent to the scene and took the passengers to Reno.

The driver's name wasn't immediately released.
