California man arrested in attempted abduction of girl

A California man has been arrested in Reno in the attempted abduction of a teenage girl but police don't know if it's tied to other recent incidents.

Washoe County school police arrested Jesus Garay, 35, of Tracy Friday morning after the student at Washoe High School said she'd been accosted near the school about 8:20 a.m.

School district spokeswoman Nancy Leuenhagen said police are questioning Garay about a half-dozen other suspicious incidents near other area schools over the past month.

The girl said the suspect asked her for personal information but she refused. She said he got out of the car and grabbed her by the hand before she pulled away and ran.
