Carson City sheriff promises probe after pit bull killed

CARSON CITY -- Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said a full investigation will be conducted into the fatal shooting of a pit bull by a deputy during an arrest of its owner.

Furlong told the Nevada Appeal that the deputy shot the dog Friday after it bit him while he was arresting 30-year-old Asya Pedone of Carson City.

After the deputy pulled over her car, a records check revealed the driver was sought on two California arrest warrants. Furlong said two dogs jumped out of her car during the arrest and ran toward the deputy, and the pit bull bit him on the back of the leg.
