City Council approves plan for improvements to D Street

A major street in a Las Vegas neighborhood will be getting a major face-lift.

On Wednesday, the City Council voted unanimously to approve $2 million in improvements to D Street between Washington and Owens avenues.

D Street runs parallel to F Street, which is also slated for changes, most prominently the reopening of an underpass at Interstate 15. The interstate currently prevents the street from going through to the Symphony Park area.

The D Street improvements include bike lanes, streetscaping and other changes that will make it more pleasant for walking and biking.

The upgrades are particularly significant because, historically, residents have felt the area doesn't receive its fair share of funding for infrastructure.
