CityCenter wins national award for landscape design

MGM Resort’s CityCenter hotel and casino was recently recognized with a national award for its landscape design at the Planet Green Industry Conference in Louisville, Ky.

CityCenter won the construction category, one of 11 landscape awards for Calabasas, Calif.-based ValleyCrest Landscape company.

Total cost for labor and materials to complete landscape work at CityCenter was about $100 million, ValleyCrest spokesman Dennis Kaiser said.

Innovative engineering and installation techniques were used to transport and hoist trees and other landscaping elements onto a podium deck 40 feet above the ground, covering CityCenter’s casino and function rooms.

“This extraordinary urban resort destination was brought to life by eight world-renowned architects and offers a new era of resort experiences with an ambition to refine and redefine Las Vegas,” Kaiser said.

ValleyCrest also won awards for office projects in San Diego and Irvine, Calif.; a botanical garden in Atlanta; a luxury hotel in Key Biscayne, Fla.; and a sports stadium project in Reno.
