Commission on Judicial Discipline appoints new director

The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline announced Wednesday their appointment of a new executive director and general counsel.

Reno attorney Paul Deyhle is set to start Nov. 1 in Carson City as executive director of the Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics. Deyhle is a partner at the firm McDonald Carano Wilson in Reno and has experience with corporate law as well as real estate, business and intellectual property deals.

Commission chairman Doug Jones said Deyhle will bring a different perspective to the commission.

The Commission on Judicial Discipline was created by a constitutional amendment in 1976 and handles allegations of judicial misconduct and ethics violations of Nevada judges.

The Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics was created by a Supreme Court ruling in 1998 and gives Nevada judges advice on ethics and suggests changes to the Code of Judicial Conduct.

Deyhle is replacing David Sarnowski, who held the position from 2002 until his retirement in July.
