Coroner: Indian Springs inmate hanged himself

The inmate who was found dead in his cell Friday at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs committed suicide, officials said.

The Clark County coroner’s office attributed the death of Truman Walker, 67, to asphyxia due to hanging.

Walker was incarcerated most recently in 2000 for open and gross lewdness. He was previously incarcerated from 1985 to 1999 after being convicted of sexual assault with substantial bodily harm in Elko.

Walker is the sixth Nevada prisoner to die since September. On Sept. 20, 34-year-old Ruben Martinez Arroyo also hanged himself in the High Desert State Prison.
