County approves raises for some union workers

Some 5,342 union employees who work at Clark County will receive retroactive 2 percent raises, a $4.48 million expense to the county.

In negotiations between the county and the Service Employees International Union, it was agreed that the salary increases reach back to July 1, 2013 and continue until the end of the fiscal year on June 30, while the collective bargaining continues.

SEIU members at University Medical Center are not included in those raises.

In a separate vote Tuesday, the Clark County Commission approved 2 percent retroactive raises for the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 18. Only 25 employees are eligible for the raises, which will cost the county Aviation Department $26,412 for the period from last July and next June.
