Curtis joins cast of ‘Other Guys’

Unstoppable Tony Curtis is returning to the big screen.

The legendary 84-year-old actor, who recently had a health scare while visiting New York City, showed up in a wheelchair Wednesday at the Chaine des Rotisseurs dinner at Rao's (Caesars Palace) with his wife Jill.

Curtis told one of my spies that he's signed up to join Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Michael Keaton and Eva Mendes in the cop movie "The Other Guys."

Curtis, a Las Vegas resident for almost a decade, also shared some other news. He and Jill are flying to San Diego today to attend the 50th anniversary reunion of "Some Like It Hot" at the Hotel Del Coronado, where it was filmed.

Curtis co-starred with Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon in the classic, which was ranked No. 1 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 Funniest Movies.

HAUTE DOG

Every dog has his day, but not as many as this pampered pooch.

We owe this item to The Associated Press sports columnist Tim Dahlberg, a regular contributor with his Only-In-Vegas observations.

Dahlberg, who is based in Las Vegas, was driving past Steve Wynn's Encore hotel this week when he noticed a half-million dollar Mercedes Maybach pull out into traffic.

At a stoplight, Dahlberg looked over and observed the car had two occupants: the chauffeur and, in the back, an adult German Shepherd, who appeared to be enjoying the luxe life.

Since it's no secret that Wynn is often seen in the company of his beloved German Shepherds and has a Maybach -- not to mention a fleet of 11 Rolls Royce Phantoms -- we're probably not exactly letting the cat out of the bag here.

Wynn and his dogs have been inseparable over the years. They not only accompany him on his private jet flights to Macau, but the story goes that he schedules a stopover in Hawaii so they can get some exercise and do what they have to do. And when they get to Macau, they have special passports to get through the immigration lines.

BIRTHDAY SURPRISE

No one was enjoying "Sgt. Pepper Live" featuring Cheap Trick more than Jenna Morton during Tuesday's media night performance at the Hilton.

The show was an early birthday present from hubbie Michael Morton of N9NE Group. She's been a huge fan of the band going back to her Chicago days, "starting in high school when I thought they were dreamy," she said.

Three years ago, Michael threw a 40th birthday party for her in the backyard of their Summerlin home.

He put a blindfold on her and led her on stage in front of 200 friends dressed in wild 1960s looks.

"Michael told me I had to say, 'I want you to want me,'" she said.

She hemmed and hawed, and finally said the magic words. Out came Cheap Trick, who turned "I Want You to Want Me" into a Top 10 hit in 1979.

"It was the best party that ever was and ever will be," she said. "We're still finding guitar picks in our backyard."

THE SCENE AND HEARD

Prominent music executive Bob Greenberg died Sept. 11 in California. He was 75. After years as top music executives, the Greenberg brothers formed their own label, Mirage Music, in 1980. Four years ago, they licensed the Rainbow name from the owners of the legendary rock-and-roll club on Sunset Strip in Hollywood and re-created a Vegas version, called Rainbow Bar & Grill, at Paradise Road and Harmon Avenue.
