Deadly wildfire expected to be fully contained by Saturday

CALIENTE - Fire officials say a wildfire burning on the Nevada-Utah border is now 65 percent contained.

They expect it to be fully contained by Saturday.

Great Basin Incident Management Team officials said that GPS mapping taken Thursday put the White Rock Fire at 6,355 acres.

More than 350 people, including support staff, are working on the blaze.

Authorities said the wildfire was sparked June 1 by lightning on the eastern edge of Nevada's Lincoln County.

It's burning in steep, rugged terrain and has spread into Utah.

Two pilots from Boise, Idaho, were killed Sunday when their firefighting aircraft crashed during a mission to drop retardant on the blaze.
