Detention center doctor arrested on drug charge

A doctor for the Clark County Detention Center was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police found a crack pipe by his foot outside the Regional Justice Center.

Dr. James Zinser was attempting to take a picture of O.J. Simpson, who was leaving the courthouse where he is on trial for armed robbery and kidnapping.

Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Jose Montoya confirmed that Zinser was arrested at 6 p.m. on a misdemeanor narcotics paraphernalia possession charge.

Montoya said officers noticed Zinser acting suspiciously, and as they approached him, they saw a crack pipe by his foot.

Zinser was attempting to conceal the pipe, which had warm foil in it, Montoya said.

"I don't know at what point they found out he was a doctor at CCDC or how that came up," Montoya said. "But they booked him."

Montoya said no drugs were found on Zinser.

A woman who picked up the phone late Wednesday at the Las Vegas City Jail, which houses inmates charged with misdemeanors, said Zinser had not been booked yet.
