Driver charged with DUI in Thursday’s five-vehicle crash

Las Vegas police have charged a driver in Thursday’s five-vehicle crash with driving under the influence.

Angela Mageras, 37, was driving westbound on Desert Inn Road about 2:20 p.m when she crossed the road and drove into eastbound traffic, according to police.

Mageras told officers she was on her way home and had drank two Bloody Marys and two Bud Lights before the accident, according to her arrest report. She also said she could not remember when the accident happened or what road she was on.

Mageras, driving a Toyota Scion TC, struck an oncoming Nissan Sentra, then a Toyota minivan, then a Toyota Corolla before her car came to a stop in the road, police said.

The driver of the minivan, a 33-year-old woman, was thrown from the vehicle. She was transported to the hospital and had surgery for a broken bone in each leg.

A GMC Savana traveling east could then rear-ended the minivan, according to witness statements and evidence at the scene.

Nine people, aged 15-57, suffered injuries ranging from minor to critical, and several vehicle occupants were taken to area hospitals.

The accident remains under investigation.
