English woman killed in northwest Arizona accident identified

KINGMAN, Ariz. — Authorities in northwest Arizona have released the names of tourists from England involved in a fatal accident about 10 miles north of Kingman Saturday.

A Jeep Patriot was traveling south on Stockton Hill Road when it left the roadway and struck the face of a culvert structure about 2:20 p.m., according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Agency spokeswoman Trish Carter said the unrestrained front-seat passenger, Carol Elizabeth Parkins, 74, was dead at the scene after she was thrown from the vehicle. Parkins was a resident of Upminster, east of London.

Carter said Parkins, her daughter Kim F. Rainey, age unavailable, and Rainey’s son, Nicholas D.L. Rainey, 16, were traveling toward Kingman after a visit at the Skywalk at Grand Canyon West.

Carter said Kim Rainey was driving. She and her son were transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center for treatment of fractures sustained in the accident.
