Ex-prostitute sentenced in claw hammer attack at Nevada brothel

ELKO — A former prostitute convicted of attacking a co-worker with a claw hammer in a dispute over missing beer at a rural Nevada brothel has been sentenced to nearly 19 years in prison.

Lisa Wong was convicted this summer in the August 2012 beating of Sang Fowler, a fellow employee at Sharon’s Bar and Brothel in Carlin, about 25 miles east of Elko on Interstate 80.

District Judge Al Kacin sentenced her Thursday for what prosecutors said was a vicious, unprovoked attack on an ex-friend.

Fowler survived but suffered severe injuries to her head and hand.

The Elko Daily Free Press reported public defender Roger Stewart told the judge that the 50-year-old Wong made a mistake by rejecting plea bargain offers that would have meant less prison time.
