Fire causes damage to apartment building
An early-morning fire Thursday at an apartment building in the east valley caused $20,000 in damage, according to the Clark County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire in an apartment building at 1309 Dorothy Ave., near Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue, at 1:17 a.m. Thursday. The building, which contains four apartments, had heavy smoke coming out of it.
Fire crews found the fire inside the walls of the first and second floors of apartment No. 2 and were able to control the fire in 17 minutes.
A worker in the building was doing plumbing work at the time of the fire, and the soldering of the plumbing is being investigated as the possible cause of the fire. Two of the four units of the building were occupied, and the owners were able to return to their homes after the fire.
There were no injuries.
