A fire destroyed a house in North Las Vegas late Saturday night.

North Las Vegas firefighters said the home at 2216 Ellis St., near Belmont Street and Carey Avenue, caught fire about 10:45 p.m. and was a complete loss. Another apartment in the duplex suffered significant smoke damage and was also uninhabitable, authorities said.

Las Vegas firefighters assisted. There were nine units and 26 firefighters that helped extinguish the blaze, which took about an hour.

A woman was home when the fire started but was not hurt. No firefighters were hurt.

The fire caused an estimated $65,000 in damage to the duplex.
