Forest Service offering chance to buy mahogany firewood

The U.S. Forest Service is using a lottery system to sell permits for a limited supply of mahogany firewood available after trees were removed from a picnic area near Mount Charleston.

About 20 permits will be available for sale. Permits costs $20 and entitle the holder to one cord of wood.

People can enter for a chance to buy a firewood permit by submitting their name, phone number, and email address by Aug. 29 to Judy Suing at jsuing@fs.fed.us or (702) 839-5563.

The drawing is set for Aug. 29 in Las Vegas.
