Girl slain, another injured on Fort Mojave Indian reservation

Federal and tribal authorities are investigating the suspected murder of a child and the injuring of her young sister on the Fort Mojave Indian reservation in northwest Arizona.

FBI Special Agent Manuel Johnson said he was unable to provide many details of the incident, the subject of a joint investigation of the FBI and tribal police.

Johnson said the violence occurred sometime Wednesday evening at a residence on the reservation, south of Bullhead City. The name and age of the victim are being withheld.

Johnson said a sister of the deceased was taken to a hospital in Las Vegas for treatment of her injuries. He also said a 29-year-old suspect is in tribal custody on unspecified charges.

Tribal police directed inquiries to the FBI, but no further information was available.
