Hawthorne woman arrested in $63,000 embezzlement case

HAWTHORNE -- A Hawthorne woman has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling more than $63,000 from her former employer.

The Nevada Department of Public Safety's Investigation Division said Jeraldine Sylvestri, 44, is accused of embezzling the money over a three-year period. She's suspected of gaining access to her company's bank account while she was an office staff member charged with paying the company's bills. The company was not named.

Sylvestri surrendered to authorities and was booked Wednesday into the Mineral County Jail in Hawthorne on an arrest warrant. Her bail was set at $40,000.
