He’s not wild about Harry: The joke that fell on deaf ears until it was Rushed
When I read that U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in Iraq today, it reminded me of something I read in D Magazine recently. It was written by CBS golf analyst David Feherty, who is now a neighbor of George W. Bush in a ritzy Dallas subdivision. He and others wrote about civilian Bush coming home to Texas.

Feherty wrote: “From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this, though: despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.”
Aren’t you intrigued by hypotheticals?
Of course, the liberal Media Matters immediately demanded an apology and CBS immediately accommodated. "We want to be clear that this column for a Dallas magazine is an unacceptable attempt at humor and is not in any way condoned, endorsed or approved by CBS Sports," spokeswoman LeslieAnne Wade said.
Did I say immediately? Well the regional magazine came out in April, but the demand came on Friday and the apology did not come until Saturday. On Sunday, Feherty himself apologized.
You see, on Friday, Mark Davis of WBAP radio in Dallas filled in for Rush Limbaugh on his nationally syndicated show and read that passage on the air.
If a joke falls in Dallas, does anyone hear it until it gets Rushed?
By the way, Feherty’s new book is titled “An Idiot for All Seasons.”
